FELTOM's March Milestones: Shaping the Future of ELT in Malta

  Publisher : Bernice   28 March 2025 06:21

March has been an important month for FELTOM, marking key developments in the English Language Teaching (ELT) sector in Malta. With a continued focus on quality and sustainability, FELTOM remains committed to strengthening the country’s position as a recognised destination for English language learners. This month, FELTOM has concentrated on two main initiatives: the hosting of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the signing of a partnership with Green Standard Schools to promote environmental sustainability in language education.

FELTOM Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Earlier this week, FELTOM held its AGM, providing an opportunity to review the federation's activities over the past year and to present its objectives for the future.

Speakers at the AGM included Monica Wu from the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) and Therese Camilleri, FELTOM Accreditation Chair, who both addressed key industry topics and challenges within the ELT sector. Discussions focused on accreditation, advocacy, and marketing, reinforcing FELTOM's role in maintaining quality standards in English language teaching.

FELTOM Signs MoU with Green Standard Schools

As part of its commitment to sustainability, FELTOM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Standard Schools. This organisation provides accreditation to language education providers that meet high environmental standards. Through this partnership, FELTOM aims to encourage environmentally responsible practices within its member schools.

Jonathan Dykes, representing Green Standard Schools, was a key speaker at the event and discussed the importance of sustainability in education. This collaboration is intended to support Malta’s ELT sector in adopting sustainable initiatives and aligning with global environmental objectives.

FELTOM remains focused on maintaining quality and sustainability in Malta’s ELT sector. The initiatives discussed this March demonstrate the federation’s efforts to address industry challenges while ensuring that Malta continues to be a leading destination for English language education. By prioritising accreditation, advocacy, and environmental responsibility, FELTOM seeks to contribute to the ongoing development of the sector.
