The Eaquals International Conference 2025 commenced in Malta on Thursday, 27th March, drawing language education professionals from around the globe to the InterContinental Malta in St. Julian's. The conference offers a comprehensive programme aimed at enhancing the quality of language teaching and learning.
Day One Highlights:
The conference began with a full-day Management Training workshop titled "Project Management in Education: Models, Case Studies, and Hands-On Practice." This intensive session provided participants with an in-depth exploration of project management methodologies tailored to the education sector. The workshop was structured into three dynamic parts:
Understanding Core Methodologies: Attendees examined frameworks such as Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid models, discussing their application in educational contexts for effective planning and execution.
Real-World Applications: Through analysis of case studies, participants gained insights into successes and challenges faced in educational project management, extracting actionable strategies.
Hands-On Practice: Collaborative activities allowed attendees to design and simulate projects, ranging from course launches to technology integration, with expert guidance and peer feedback.
Simultaneously, Eaquals inspectors engaged in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions, focusing on quality assurance principles, evidence analysis, and judgement within the realm of course design and related academic areas. These sessions aimed to reinforce the standards of excellence upheld by Eaquals-accredited institutions.
Day Two Highlights:
Friday morning commenced with a 15-minute mindfulness practice led by Ania Kolbuszewska, offering participants a moment of reflection and focus ahead of the day's activities. The official conference opening followed, leading into the Tim Goodier Memorial Plenary titled "Towards Establishing a Common Understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in ELT." This plenary underscored the pivotal role that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) play in enriching the learning experience, preparing students to engage respectfully and successfully in a globalised world where English serves as a lingua franca.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to participate in various elective sessions tailored to diverse interests and professional development needs. The evening is set to culminate in a Gala Dinner at Bacchus in Mdina, providing a convivial atmosphere for networking and cultural immersion.
As the conference progresses, participants eagerly anticipate further sessions and collaborative opportunities designed to advance the field of language education.
