20 years of L’Italiano Porticando – a journey along Italy and the Italian language

  Publisher : Bernice   14 January 2025 06:49

In 2005, in the heart of Turin, three partners and family members, Rosaria, Caterina and Laura founded a place, where the Italian language and culture became the protagonists – L’Italiano Porticando. Started as a small family-run school, 20 years later it has become a  renown school of Italian for foreigners in Italy.

As the name of the school suggests - study Italian while walking under the Turin’s arcades – L’Italiano Porticando is a long walk under 18 km of Turin porticoes, where throughout all these years each step took us a lot of dedicated work and research, so that every person that comes to us would get an immersive experience of learning Italian in a city, that never stops surprising. Turin, a true pearl of Northern Italy, has gone through a lot of changes, but succeeded to maintain its elegant spirit, it is both a city of innovations and modern art, and a city proudly wearing the title of the first capital of Italy, a city with royal legacy, boasting its rich cultural and gastronomic tradition, only a stone’s throw from the majestic Alps.

We have been meticulously creating our own didactic materials, while adhering to the high European standards of teaching Italian, we have been creating our unique cultural programmes, an essential part of our identity, and of course building connections. L’Italiano Porticando has never been about numbers, but about people. We strongly believe, that people are the most important part of our journey – from our teachers with years of experience, dedicated to the language, our partners, and families, hosting our students and certainly our students, who every year choose and trust us. Some come to L’Italiano Porticando for their passion for the Italian culture, some for their studies or career, and some – to build a new life in Italy.

We are proud that we have managed to stay faithful to our principles, to maintain the independence and the spirit of a family, that grows with each student that chooses us for the first time, with each student that comes back, with every postcard from Far Away. We are thankful to every person, who joins us on our long walk under Turin’s arcades and ready to continue our journey.
