International House Manchester: Building Community Beyond the Classroom

  Publisher : Bernice   15 December 2025 08:26

At International House Manchester, learning extends far beyond the classroom. As part of the school’s ongoing social programme, students are encouraged to connect, relax and build meaningful relationships through a wide range of inclusive activities designed to support wellbeing and cultural exchange.

Last Tuesday, IH Manchester hosted another successful Ladies Social at Oopstay Art Café, offering female students a welcoming space to socialise, unwind and express their creativity. These events play an important role in helping students feel supported and confident during their time in Manchester, particularly those who may be adjusting to life in a new country.

The afternoon combined conversation with creativity, as participants swapped textbooks for paintbrushes and took part in a relaxed art session. One of the highlights was the painting of Manchester’s iconic worker bee – a long-standing symbol of the city’s resilience, community spirit and industrial heritage. Activities like this allow students to engage with local culture in an informal and enjoyable way, while strengthening friendships across nationalities.

The completed artwork now sits proudly on display at the school, serving as a reminder of the strong sense of community that International House Manchester works hard to foster.

Social events such as the Ladies Social are a valued part of the IH Manchester experience, complementing high-quality English language tuition with opportunities for personal connection, creativity and cultural discovery. The school continues to develop its social programme to ensure students feel welcome, supported and fully engaged throughout their stay.

Agents can be confident that students choosing International House Manchester will benefit not only from excellent teaching, but also from a caring and inclusive environment that truly enhances their overall experience.
