Published on Monday, July 3, 2017

English in Cyprus, the largest international language school in Cyprus, has joined the Quality English brand of English language schools. This is the first international recognition of any English Language school in Cyprus.

The school, based in the coastal city of Limassol, offers year-round General, Exam and Family programmes and operates a Junior Summer Camp just outside of the city.

There are now 63 schools and colleges within the Quality English and Quality Education group.

Cyprus was part of the British Empire until 1961, 4% of the population are British, and over 1 million tourists arrive from the UK every year. The island has been developing as an English Language destination for the past 10 years.

Stephan Roussounis, Director of English in Cyprus, said “This is a significant milestone for us, we are delighted to join an exceptional group of independent schools. Recognising Cyprus as a 9th English language destination for international students is momentous for the island, not just our school.”

Jonathan Swindell, Chief Executive of Quality English said, “Cyprus holds huge potential as a destination for study travel and, in English in Cyprus, we have a school with all the high standards and attributes needed to be an exciting addition to the Quality English group.”

Quality English will be holding Agent Workshops in Prague, Rome and Madrid in November before holding their Annual Conference and Workshop in Malta at the end of the month.

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation also commented on the news, with acting Director General Mr. Marinos Menelaou stating, “The Cyprus Tourism Organisation is delighted that Cyprus is increasingly being accepted and considered as a prime destination for international students to learn English language skills. We congratulate "English in Cyprus" on its membership to "Quality English", and believe their success will act as a catalyst for more schools to develop and extend theri English language facilities to foreign visitors.”
