Bayswater Education, a leading international education group, announces the acquisition of its latest campus in the vibrant city of Leeds. This marks the group’s fifth location in the United Kingdom, further strengthening its commitment to providing high-quality language and professional education to students from around the world.
Bayswater Education has completed the acquisition of Leeds English Language School. Founded in 2001, Leeds English Language School was the first independent language school in the city and has successfully taught thousands of students from all over the world over the last 24 years. The current owners, Bob Charlton and Mike Corbett, have decided to move on to new ventures but will be providing assistance to Bayswater for the duration of 2025. “Joining forces with Bayswater opens up new opportunities for our students and staff. We are thrilled to become part of an organisation that shares our values and vision for the future of education,” says Bob Charlton.
Over the next few months, the school will be transitioning to Bayswater systems and processes. From September 2025, it will be renamed to Bayswater Leeds, and move to a brand-new campus, strategically located in the city centre. It will offer Bayswater’s range of popular English Language courses. Future plans include the introduction of micro-credential programmes, the likes of digital marketing and international business, aligning with Leeds's growing status as a major hub for business and technology in the North of England.
"We are incredibly excited to bring Bayswater Education to Leeds," says Stephan Roussounis, CEO at Bayswater Education. "Leeds is a dynamic, multicultural city with a thriving student population and a strong economic outlook. Its excellent transport links and rich cultural heritage make it an ideal location for international students looking to improve their English and gain valuable professional skills.”
Bayswater’s founders have a close relationship with Leeds with Stephan Roussounis having been born and brought up in Leeds (and now living close by) and James Herbertson having studied at Leeds University.
The new Leeds campus will feature modern classrooms, dedicated student support services, and an extensive social programme designed to immerse students into British culture and make the most of their time in the city. This innovative approach, which combines language learning with opportunities for professional development and cultural exchange, is one the group is well-known for.
