  Publisher : Bernice   15 April 2025 09:18

Trine University takes immense pride in sharing the news that one of their Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) alumni, Md Nagib Mahfuz Sunny, has earned the prestigious 2025 Global Recognition Award for his groundbreaking work in healthcare data science. This recognition highlights the university’s commitment to developing talented professionals who drive innovation and create meaningful impact in their respective fields.

Transforming Patient Care Through Data Science

As a Healthcare Data Analyst and Researcher at the Children’s Clinic of Michigan, Sunny exemplifies the calibre of professionals that emerge from Trine’s graduate programmes. His research on predictive modelling in healthcare has been featured in multiple academic journals, most notably his study ‘Optimising Healthcare Outcomes through Data-Driven Predictive Modelling.’ Sunny’s work demonstrates how predictive algorithms can help medical professionals intervene earlier in patient care, significantly reducing emergency visits and hospital-acquired infections. “Predictive modelling is not about replacing medical professionals, but equipping them with better information,” explains Sunny, whose innovative approaches have caught the attention of leading healthcare institutions.

Extending Impact Beyond Clinical Applications

An IEEE Senior Member, Sunny has expanded his influence beyond clinical applications to address healthcare system inefficiencies, particularly in fraud detection for Medicare and Medicaid programmes. This interdisciplinary approach has contributed to saving taxpayers approximately $1.5 billion in recent years. His forthcoming book, ‘Big Data Analytics in Healthcare: Predicting Patient Outcomes and Improving Clinical Decision-Making’, further solidifies his position as a thought leader in the industry.

Md Nagib Mahfuz Sunny’s 2025 Global Recognition Award underscores his innovative work connecting healthcare technology with practical applications. His contributions to research and leadership demonstrate a remarkable vision for more efficient and accessible healthcare systems. The broader impact of his work is expected to influence healthcare technology for years to come, exemplifying the transformative possibilities of a Trine University education. The entire Trine community celebrates his achievements as a distinguished alumnus.
