Expanding Opportunity in U.S. Tech Education: New Flexible Programs at Trine University

  Publisher : Bernice   07 May 2026 06:38

For agents working in international education, the strongest interest right now is coming from programs that feel realistic for students to access, both financially and in terms of study delivery. That balance is exactly where Trine University is positioning itself with its latest offerings in technology and information systems.

Cybersecurity bachelor’s now running in Detroit

Trine University has brought its Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity to its Detroit Education Center, opening up another location for students who want to study in the United States without the heavy cost burden that often comes with it.

The pricing is one of the most attention grabbing parts. At around $299 per credit, students are looking at roughly $9000 per year based on a standard 12 credit semester load. For a U.S. degree in a technical field, that sits in a very competitive space.

The delivery model is built for flexibility. Students are only required to attend four in person sessions per semester, which makes the program far more manageable for international students who may be balancing work, travel, or family commitments.

On completion, students are eligible for STEM OPT, which is often a deciding factor for those who want to gain work experience in the U.S. after graduation. For agents, this adds a strong post study outcome that is easy to explain and market.

Doctor of Information Technology expands across three U.S. cities

Alongside the undergraduate program, Trine University has also expanded its Doctor of Information Technology offering. This program is now available in Detroit, Phoenix, and Reston, giving students more choice in where they study.

The doctorate is aimed at professionals who want to move into higher level roles in the technology sector. At approximately $700 per credit, and with around 6 credits per semester, the yearly cost is estimated at about $9000. That level of pricing makes it more accessible than many similar doctoral programs in the United States.

The structure is designed with working professionals in mind. Only one on campus attendance per semester is required, which keeps the program practical while still maintaining academic engagement.

Students may also access CPT opportunities during study, and the program carries STEM OPT eligibility after completion. For many international applicants, that combination of study and work potential is a major draw.

Why agents should pay attention

From an agent perspective, these programs are easy to position. They are clearly structured, cost conscious, and focused on fields that continue to grow globally.

Cybersecurity remains one of the strongest undergraduate recruitment areas, while the doctorate in information technology appeals to professionals looking for career progression or academic advancement. Both are delivered in flexible formats that reduce pressure on students who cannot commit to full time on campus study.

Spring 2027 intake now open

Applications for Spring 2027 are already open, giving agents time to plan recruitment cycles and build early interest. With affordability, hybrid delivery, and work opportunities all aligned, these programs are likely to gain traction across multiple markets.

Final note

Trine University is leaning into what many international students are asking for right now, lower cost, flexible access, and a clear path toward work experience in the United States. For agents, that combination makes these programs straightforward to present and easy to match with student demand.
