St Giles Academic Centre: A Dedicated Hub for Excellence at Oxford International Study Centre

  Publisher : Bernice   10 March 2025 08:45

Since its establishment in 2006, Oxford International Study Centre (OISC) has been synonymous with high-quality education, offering diverse programmes in English language training and academic subjects. With the continuous growth of both streams, the need for dedicated spaces to cater to the unique requirements of each became evident. In 2023, OISC took a significant step forward by opening the St Giles Academic Centre, a facility exclusively designed for academic programmes such as A-Level, Foundation, GCSE, and other academic short courses.

A Tailored Environment for Academic Growth

Located at 31a St Giles, the Academic Centre provides students with a stable, professional setting conducive to focused learning. Free from the lively energy of short-course language students at the St Aldates site, St Giles fosters a calm and productive atmosphere that allows academic learners to thrive.

This separation ensures that students can make the most of their time and resources, supported by a learning environment tailored specifically to their academic journey. Yet, OISC maintains a welcoming and inclusive approach, encouraging academic students to utilize the facilities at St Aldates, such as the Common Room and classrooms, during free periods.

A Seamless Welcome

All new students begin their OISC experience at the St Aldates reception, where they receive an induction and orientation. Academic students are then guided to the St Giles building by a staff member, ensuring a smooth transition to their new academic environment. From the second day onward, students attend classes directly at St Giles, signing in and out at the main office.

A Historic and Purpose-Built Space

St Giles is more than just a centre for learning; it is a building steeped in academic tradition, complementing the historic charm of OISC’s St Aldates site. The facility features eight well-equipped classrooms, a Student Common Room for relaxation and social interaction, and an office where the academic management team is readily available to support students.

Conveniently located just a ten-minute walk from St Aldates, St Giles combines accessibility with an ambiance that reflects Oxford’s rich academic heritage.

Supporting Students Every Step of the Way

At OISC, the well-being and success of students are paramount. The decision to dedicate St Giles exclusively to academic programmes is a testament to this commitment, offering learners the tools, environment, and support they need to excel.

Whether students are embarking on GCSEs, preparing for A-Levels, or exploring short academic courses, St Giles provides a robust foundation for their educational journey while allowing them to enjoy the broader resources and community at St Aldates.

At the heart of OISC’s vision is a commitment to creating tailored pathways for students to achieve their goals. The opening of St Giles Academic Centre is a proud milestone in this mission, offering a space where academic excellence is nurtured and celebrated.
