It gives me great pleasure to write my first post for the School of Business and Management. I have been Dean at SBM since August 2023, and since then, the whole team has been constantly working to continually improve the services we offer to our students. SBM knows that change is a constant, and we are not afraid to embrace those changes and the challenges they bring as we strive to offer new and better experiences to our students. The School of Business and Management is a new operation in Malta, but it is built by a team that collectively has over 50 years of experience in the educational sector both in Malta and abroad.
We at the School of Business and Management believe that, in today’s world, lifelong education is the only way forward, and investing in education is key to empowering and emancipating individuals into becoming autonomous thinkers and doers. However, it is very important to embrace a lifelong fact and motto that states that we are'standing on the shoulders of giants’ meaning that the collective learning of the past can enable us to look to the future with the knowledge that accumulates over time and to creatively build new educational tools to enhance learning and make the learning experience more engaging to our students. Consequently, although learning is an autonomous journey, it is greatly enriched by the experiences of others before us and of our peers. This mantra has been pushing us forward to continue to grow as a school and to be equipped with the digital and academic tools necessary to maintain a high level of education for all our students.
The School of Business and Management acknowledges the challenges the students might have when travelling to a foreign country and having to adapt to new cultures and a different way of life, and that is why we are building a strong student support policy with a students’ wellness officer who is here to help students adapt to the new way of life.
These are exciting times at the School of Business and Management as we continue to grow, evolve, and anticipate challenges to have the foresight to tackle them optimistically. The strategy we have developed is that if we keep on thinking in the same old way, we’ll get the same old results, so we think outside the box and, as a team, try to see the invisible, make it visible, and become stronger and better educators.
