We would like to introduce our new Accommodation Officer, Ursula d’Almeida. Ursula will take over the role from our previous Accommodation Officer, Amama Forjani, who is excited to start her new role as an EFL Teacher.
The role of an Accommodation Officer is nothing new to Ursula, as she has previous experience working as an Accommodation Officer from 2019 to 2020. We are excited to share Ursula’s views on returning to the EFL Industry after 5 years and how she wishes to apply her skillset to her new role in the college.
I like the possibility of forming a match between a homestay host and a student. I like to create a link to a nice relationship. I understand that when a student comes to Manchester, it is new world, and as an immigrant myself, I can remember the feelings that I had when I first arrived. I think it can be very rewarding when a student is housed with a host. I think the Accommodation Department is very dynamic.
There is never a dull day. You have to be very patient and listen a lot to both the students and the hosts. You have to be the middle person. I personally know how hard it is to arrive in a new country when you don’t know much about anything there. So, it is nice to know that I can help someone, who maybe does not know the language, because they are here to learn English. It is really rewarding to be able to help them, and this is what I like the most.
It feels great! I didn’t know that I missed the industry so much until I came back. The school environment is amazing and everyone is welcoming. Of course, we have challenges in this industry, but we can easily overcome everything easily with teamwork. This school (Kings Hall College) is beautiful. It is vibrant. All of the teachers and students are wonderful. It’s a very dynamic place.
If you would like to become a homestay host with Kings Hall College, or have any accommodation-related questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Ursula will be happy to answer any enquiries that you have.
