Intercultural Activity in Valencia with Hispania, escuela de espaƱol

Did you know that Valencia has a cultural connection with many countries around the world? At Hispania, escuela de español we have taken advantage of the fact that we have students from more than 80 different nationalities to discover how our city and its cultures have much more in common than they think.

Learning Spanish while discovering the ins and outs of their culture is a unique opportunity that we at Hispania, escuela de español offer our students on a regular basis, both in the classroom and in the form of gymkhanas around the city.

And this July our students have enjoyed an incredible cultural experience in which through a "trip" through emblematic places of the city they discovered the connection of Valencia with different countries of the world such as Germany, Italy, Mexico, China, France...

In this class our students were divided into teams ready to "travel" around the city. To discover the "stops" of their trips, they had to decipher some clues that were sent to their mobile devices through a community application (Padlet) and they had to complete a small task such as, for example, taking a funny photo or answering some cultural questions, which they uploaded to the platform.

Check out this video here!

Once they had passed the test, the teachers sent them a passport with the stamp of a different country and with it in their possession, they could continue their journey to another place in beautiful Valencia. Each stamp in the passport referred to a country culturally or historically connected to the place in Valencia where they were.

At the "end of the journey" stop, the teachers explain to the students what is the connection with each country and the place they have visited along their way through Valencia. In addition, to complete this cultural discovery, we played with puzzles that the students put together to discover the traditional clothing of different countries around the world. Next to the image appeared some key words that the students used to present to their classmates curious or interesting facts about the country that each group chose to present.

We closed a morning of laughter, culture and Spanish with a Kahoot about general culture and traditions of countries around the world. It was a very fun day and our students enjoyed and learned a lot through this intercultural "trip" around Valencia. Learning in an active way helps to generate meaningful learning and above all an unforgettable experience in their Spanish adventure.

At Hispania, escuela de español, our students not only discover how to communicate in Spanish, but also enjoy happy moments full of friends and unique experiences.
