ELC Language Excursion Course

  Publisher : Bernice   02 May 2025 16:23

At the English Language Centre (ELC), in collaboration with Kurus English, we offer a unique and immersive learning opportunity called Language Excursions — a programme that has combined English language education with real-world cultural experiences since 2008.

Unlike traditional classroom lessons, Language Excursions are interactive, out-of-classroom sessions led by qualified teachers who serve as language guides. These excursions allow students to practice English through meaningful conversations and experiences linked to Cape Town’s diverse social, cultural, and historical landscape.

Running three afternoons per week, the Language Excursions are designed to complement our General, Business, Academic English, or IELTS courses (20 lessons). Whether it's meeting an opera singer, visiting a local artist, or exploring the natural beauty of Cape Town, students build language skills while engaging deeply with the people and places around them.

Here’s what one participant had to say:

“I was an enthusiastic participant in the Language Excursions throughout the month of my stay. I always looked forward to them and found them exciting. I was not disappointed with a single excursion… I especially remember the visit to the opera singer, the excursion to Intaka Island, and John Bauer at Montebello. The excursions were exceptionally well organized, and I was very surprised that you make sure returning participants do not do the same excursions twice – wow.”

“The pre-trip briefings, the cultural insights, and the language correction during the trips made the experience both educational and enriching. You have given me something for life.”

For schools and agents looking to offer students more than just language training, Language Excursions are the perfect bridge between learning and living English — in one of the most culturally rich cities in the world.
