Carmel College is proud to announce that our Year 9/10 girls’ volleyball team secured an impressive 3rd place at the New Zealand North Island Championships. This follows on from their strong performance at the Year 9/10 Regional Championships in Auckland, where the team showcased determination and skill against some of the region’s best competitors.
The North Island Championships brought together the top teams from across the region, providing an opportunity for our athletes to compete at a higher level and experience the intensity of national-level competition. Competing against the finest teams in the North Island, our girls demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
This achievement also aligns with the broader Inter-Provincial Beach Volleyball Championships, one of New Zealand’s premier domestic volleyball events. Bringing together the most talented junior athletes from all 16 provincial associations, the Championships feature boys’ and girls’ U17 and U19 divisions and are a critical part of the national talent pathway. The event fosters provincial pride and rivalry while offering a vital platform for national selectors to identify emerging talent.
At Carmel College, we celebrate not only the competitive successes of our athletes but also the opportunities these events provide for personal growth, teamwork, and community connection. Volleyball New Zealand is committed to creating fun, high-quality experiences for participants in both beach and indoor volleyball. Their guiding principles of fairness, inclusion, wellbeing, simplicity, and competitive integrity ensure that every young athlete can develop within a supportive and structured pathway towards elite-level performance.
We congratulate our Year 9/10 girls for their remarkable achievement and dedication, and we look forward to seeing many of them continue to excel in volleyball at regional, national, and potentially international levels.
