Carmel College’s Latest Sport Champions: Cheerleading and Beach Volleyball

Carmel College continues to shine on the sporting stage, with recent triumphs in Cheerleading and Beach Volleyball underscoring the depth of talent emerging across all year levels. As the school heads into a busy period of regional and national competitions, these achievements highlight both the dedication of the athletes and the strength of Carmel’s sporting programmes.

Cheerleading Triumphs on the National and International Stage

Carmel College’s Cheerleading team delivered a phenomenal performance at the New Zealand Super Nationals, securing first place in their division and being crowned overall Grand Champions – the highest-placed school at the event. Their precision, teamwork and athletic flair set a new benchmark for excellence.

Several Carmel athletes also excelled while competing with their All-Star Legacy teams at major events on both sides of the Tasman:

Australasian Majors – Gold Coast, Australia (24–26 October)

  • Kayson Ramsay-Reid & Arabella Holt – “Pink Obsession”
    Gold & Grand Champions — Highest placing Level 5 team

  • Arabella Holt – “Viperz”
    Gold (Level 5)

  • Amelia Mena, Ava Donnelly & Kristina Koprivcic – “Angelz”
    Gold (Level 2)

New Zealand Super Nationals (1–2 November)

  • Kayson Ramsay-Reid & Arabella Holt – “Pink Obsession”
    Gold & Grand Champions — Highest placing Level 5 division team

  • Arabella Holt – “Viperz”
    Silver (Level 5)

These results are a testament to the athletes’ commitment and the high-performance coaching environment supporting them.

Beach Volleyball Success at the North Harbour Championships

Carmel’s Beach Volleyball athletes were equally impressive, with 28 Year 9 and 10 students competing at the 2025 North Harbour Championships. Across both year groups, Carmel teams consistently placed in the top ranks, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork.

6th – Mia Williams & Chloe Barrett

Year 9 Results

🥉 3rd – Millie Upton & Maria Hale
4th – Paige Young & Maisey Manolas
5th – Isla Fitzgerald & Edin Irvine

These performances reflect the growing strength of Beach Volleyball within the school and bode well for upcoming island and national competitions.

Additional Sporting Achievement: World Tap Dance Championship

Carmel College also celebrates Athena Macmac, who represented New Zealand at the IDO World Tap Dance Championships. Competing among 29 dancers from 21 countries in the Tap Dance Solo Female Children category, Athena achieved an outstanding 4th place overall—a remarkable international accomplishment.

All Year 7 and 8 students are encouraged to submit their sporting achievements for 2025.
