Careers in FinTech - Why is a Master in FinTech from the University of Rennes, your best idea yet?

  Publisher : Bernice   28 May 2020 00:00

FinTech has undoubtedly been one of the most disruptive forces to ever hit the mainstream banking and finance sector...and nowadays, it is the industry that is considered to be traditional banking’s biggest competitor. “The disruption is not just restricted to payments anymore, everything from direct lending to investment banking is now being targeted by FinTech start-ups” (Sharma, 2020).

Because of the fact that it is an industry that’s on the rise, careers in FinTech are exploding, and startups as well as big companies like Google, Amazon and Netflix, among others, are constantly on the lookout for qualified people to work for them in this sector. “Many of these companies have a massive global customer base and they are using their reach to sell new products to their customers. This includes services like digital wallets, payment processing and online sale of financial products” (Sharma 2020)...and this is one of the main drivers of FinTech.

Where does the University of Rennes, in France, come in?

This year for the first time, the University of Rennes1 in France will be launching the Master FinTech programme. It is a programme that has a duration of 2 years and is offered in English.
