Traditionally, the celebration of this national holiday begins on September 15, when -around 11:00 p.m.- the President of Mexico gives the Cry of Independence from the National Palace and rings the bell of Dolores, the same bell that rang during the harangue pronounced by the priest Hidalgo... although this happened around 2:00 a.m. on September 16, 1810.
It is believed that the beginning of the celebration is the work of Porfirio Diaz, who would have moved the Grito to the night of the 15th to coincide with his birthday. The reality is that since the 1840's, when the general was only 10 years old, the civic celebration already began on the 15th with a serenade, music bands, fireworks and artillery fire.
We had a great celebration at our school Becari Conzatti! Thank you for studying with us!
