Supporting Mental Health in International Education: Free Therapeutic Coaching from GuardMe

  Publisher : Bernice   25 June 2026 07:05

In these turbulent times, professionals working in international education are facing unprecedented challenges. From job losses and organisational restructuring to broader systemic pressures that affect entire communities, the landscape has shifted significantly. Amidst this uncertainty, many continue to prioritise the wellbeing of students, often at the expense of their own mental health.

GuardMe Canada recognises the emotional and professional toll this period has taken on those in the international education sector. In response, GuardMe is offering free, confidential therapeutic coaching to all international education professionals—regardless of employment status—for a limited time.

What Is Being Offered

GuardMe’s wellness initiative provides access to experienced mental health coaches who understand the unique demands of the international education field. Services are available through both individual and group sessions and are designed to meet professionals where they are—emotionally and practically.

Key features include:

  • Unlimited sessions for the next two months. Participants are encouraged to choose the frequency and type of support that feels appropriate.

  • Advance notice will be provided should the free support period come to an end. GuardMe is committed to ensuring that no individual is left without care options.

  • Transition support will be available for those who wish to continue beyond the complimentary period.

  • Anonymity and flexibility: Participants may use a personal or professional email address—whichever feels most comfortable.

  • Continuity of care, allowing individuals to work with the same coach throughout.

  • Fully online access, with self-directed booking and scheduling.

  • Complementary support: This initiative is intended to supplement, not replace, existing Employee and Family Assistance Programmes (EFAPs) or other mental health resources.

How to Access Support

To begin, simply send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “I’m ready”. In response, GuardMe will provide a secure, personalised link to set up your confidential client account.

Importantly, the service is 100% confidential. There is no reporting to employers, no follow-up surveys, and no collection of metrics.

Please Note: If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, contact your local emergency services or crisis support line immediately.

Why This Matters

GuardMe’s initiative is grounded in the belief that individual resilience is not a solution to systemic challenges. Access to mental health care should not be contingent on one’s job security or financial position. This support is being offered because the wellbeing of professionals in international education matters—not only as employees but as individuals navigating complex and often overwhelming circumstances.

A Message of Solidarity

The team at GuardMe Canada, led by Christina and the Wellness & Learning Initiatives Team, extends their deepest respect and solidarity to those in the sector. This initiative is an invitation to accept support, to find community, and to prioritise mental wellness during a time of significant strain.

P.S. If you know a colleague who has been affected by job loss or professional disruption, please share this resource with them. They are welcome to reach out, and support will be provided with the same compassion and confidentiality.
