Nominations are now open for the Lead5050 WIE Awards 2017

Yesterday, Lead5050 opened their call for nominations for the first ever Women in International Education (WIE) Awards 2017.

 

The awards recognise outstanding men and women who work to raise the profile of gender equality in the International Education industry. Lead5050 are also delighted to announce that the main sponsor for the awards will be ILAC .

 

If you would like to nominate an individual or company for any of the categories then you can do so using this form. Nominations are open until 15 September at 6pm BST; the shortlists will be announced ahead of the ceremony on 28 October in Berlin, at the Hotel Intercontinental.

 

The 10 awards categories are:

 

1. Inspirational Woman of the Year

For a woman who has inspired others, maybe done something out of the ordinary to help others, a role model in the workplace.Maybe she has battled against enormous odds, and yet still continues to contribute to the workplace.

2. Enlightened Employer Award - Supporting women in the workplace

For companies of any size that have shown exceptional commitment to gender equality in the workplace. They will be able to demonstrate a forward-thinking, proactive and creative approach to enabling women to realise their full potential. This could include taking action in areas such as recruitment, employee recognition and development, flexible working, helping women returning to the workplace or any other ways of creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture which enables women to excel.

3. Lifetime Achievement Award

For a woman who has been ahead of her time in all aspects of business for some considerable time.

4. Woman Business Owner of the Year

To qualify for the award nominee must own at least 10% of the business and have been working in a full time management level position within the company at least 12 months in the last 24 months.

5. Best Champion of Change Award

This award is to recognise a man who has demonstrated their ability and commitment to raising the value of diversity and inclusiveness in their work environment. The successful candidate will be able to show how taheir ability to influence or bring about cultural change in the workplace has given rise to more support for gender diversity and equality.

6. Rising Star of the Year  (must be under 35 on 1 November 2017)

This award is for the woman under 35 who has shown ambition and determination in the workplace.

7. Best New Business / Startup of the Year  which are owned or part owned by a woman (business must be less than 12 months old on 1 November 2017)

8. Mentor of the Year

The Mentor of the Year will be a male or a female who has gone the extra mile as a mentor of women in business, or young businesses over the past year. The winner will have shown willingness to volunteer their time to supporting one or more new or growing businesses and/or supporting one or more individuals in their chosen career. They will be inspiring and dedicated to diversity and inclusion

9. Teacher of the Year

We are looking for a woman working in education who has gone that extra mile for children, teenagers or students.

10. Charitable Endevour o the Year  for an individual or business who has campaigned to help underprivileged women

There will be three shortlisted in each category, and each shortlisted person/company will receive either a Gold (winner), Silver or Bronze award.
