Gain a Project Management Qualification with PRINCE2 included

Published Bernice on Friday, October 5, 2018

Project managers are known to be the people who get things done.

The project manager's job is to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the projects they are working on, whether that be the build of a new website, a new product initiative or the implementation of a new IT system.

Project managers might work by themselves or be in charge of a team. Either way, their job is one of leadership and often comes with a lot of variety. So, if you’re looking to develop your career as a Project Manager, specifically in the field of Information Technology, then this is the right qualification for you.

Why Project Management at New Horizons?

What makes New Horizons’ Diploma of Project Management different is that you can also gain your PRINCE2® Certification at the same time. PRINCE2® is a sought-after project management certification in the IT sector world-wide. Having a PRINCE2® certification and a tertiary qualification in project management will help you stand out when looking for jobs.

You’ll also be studying alongside Australian business professionals at the school. This is a great way to meet locals working in the industry.

What does the course consist of?

Students will start by learning the fundamentals of project management and how its role fits within business. They will then move on to more specialised areas such as understanding project scope, building project plans, scheduling resources and activities, risk identification, budget management and reporting. They will be taught by instructors who have experience working in the corporate sector and are certified trainers qualified to instruct PRINCE2®.

New Horizons will provide students with a timetable each term outlining what classes are scheduled and when they’ll need to attend class. In most cases they’ll attend 2 days a week, but there may be some days where they might need to attend a block session for 5 days with other business professionals.

The Units of study that students will be required to complete include:

- BSBPMG511 - Manage Project Scope

- BSBPMG512 - Manage Project Time
