Londonist at Alphe Brazil

Published on Wednesday, May 16, 2018

In this article we are going to look at the experience that two team members from Londonist had at the Alphe Brazil Workshop, organised by StudyTravel, which took place from 7th to 9th March 2018 at the Tivoli Mofarrej – Sao Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. Here's how our lovely friend Anna Bonisoli Alquati experienced the event in Brazil.

"My name is Anna and I work at Londonist as Head of Client Management and Marketing. On the 5th of March, after work, I went to Heathrow airport with Patrick and Barbara, two of the event organisers I was travelling with. The occasion was Alphe São Paulo, a very exciting fair for the youth travel industry, which was going to be held on the 7th, 8th and 9th of March in Brazil and more specifically in São Paulo, a very extended and populous metropolis located in the south of the country.

I was very excited about this experience as it was my first time in Brazil and in London it snowed a lot during the previous days… so I needed some sun and samba vibes! The venue of the event was the Tivoli Mofarrej Hotel, a very stylish and modern hotel located in the heart of the financial district, called Jardins. We landed at 7 am and by 9 am we were at the hotel reception ready to check in. The weather was extremely hot and humid, and my London clothes were not that suitable anymore! On the same morning, after a very successful meeting at 10 am with STB and their lovely team led by Fernanda, I went back to my hotel to rest and organise my marketing material. Moreover, I spent a lovely dinner and time with the event organisers, who were extremely nice and looked after all of us during the whole stay.

Alphe Sao Paulo has been a great event, very well organised and by the presence of selected agents who were committed to establishing partnerships and business collaborations with Londonist. I had the opportunity to meet agents, educators, people who are extremely passionate about their industry and job. I signed agreements and spent two full days with many colleagues from many different countries, speaking about the best way to work together, Brazilian students deciding to move to London for a usually short period of time, to study English and experience life in a European city.

Also, many other agents visited our stand at the fair to gather information about the residences and our marketing material such as brochures as they were interested in sending more students to London for English courses. Most of the agents were interested in short stay and in accommodation options such as Kings Cross, Camden and Finsbury.

I can say this was one of the best events I attended during my time at Londonist so far and the city gave me incredible vibes and motivation.

I have also learnt from our many meetings with agents and educators that both providing a wide range of more than 15 different accommodation options across London and offering flexibility when it comes to short-term stays was one of the key factors why they considered choosing Londonist as their accommodation partner.

Furthermore, I can finally and happily say that the Londonist brand is growing exponentially and expanding worldwide and this trip was very important to establish it once more in Latin America."
