London Family Course at St Giles International

Published on Thursday, March 23, 2017

St Giles Family Courses offer an exceptional opportunity to families wanting to enjoy an educational holiday and immerse themselves in English culture. On this popular summer course, children and parents study English separately in the mornings and come together in the afternoons for an exciting social programme consisting of a variety of games, activities and visits to local attractions and nearby cities.

The course provides an opportunity for all participants to improve their English in a friendly environment and to make friends from many different countries all over the world. In fact, this year St Giles had over 20 different nationalities on the family course in London!

The increasing popularity of the family course has allowed St Giles to expand from offering the family course exclusively in London to now offering family courses in 4 locations in the UK and USA. The programme was first introduced in London in 2013, and has since expanded to Brighton, San Francisco and, in 2017, New York City. The programme has proven to be so popular that the course length has also been extended to nine weeks next summer at the London location.

Families studying in London will be based in the heart of the city at St Giles London Central, which is located in Russell Square, just a stone's throw away from the British Museum. Parents will study English in the mornings at St Giles London Central, whilst children have lessons in classrooms just across the road. Families can choose to stay in carefully selected homestays to experience a typical British family lifestyle, or families can choose a more independent option by renting a flat or staying in a hotel. Furthermore, there are many package options for families to choose from, such as options to include lunches and accommodation. Parents on the family course programme do not have to take lessons, but if they choose to study then there is also an opportunity to upgrade their course to a Platinum course, which provides a more executive environment and offers a more tailored approach to learning.

Activities during this course include 3 afternoon activities and 1 full day excursion per week which can include river boat cruises, guided sightseeing walks, and visits to museums and palaces. Full day excursions can be trips to places such as Cambridge, Canterbury and Oxford. Please see below for an example of the weekly programme.

Families wanting to join the St Giles London Family Course in 2017 can study from 2-9 weeks (starting any Sunday from the 18th June until the 20thAugust), allowing the flexibility to choose when and how long their course is. Furthermore, if families are interested in seeing more of the UK before or after their course, they can join the exciting new St Giles Explorer Tour which is a 1-week trip in July that goes from London all the way up to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond, stopping in Northern cities along the way.
