Published on Tuesday, April 4, 2017

BREAKING NEWS! Scotland Study Centre (SSC) has registered with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to put on the show ‘Culture Internationale ’ – and YOU can take part!

For the entire period of the Edinburgh Festival, from August 4th – 28th, students on Scotland Study Centre’s  ‘Caledon’ (Culture and Language Education’) and  ‘Edinburgh Festival Fringe’ courses  will be able to perform to live audiences at the SSC venue as part of the world famous Edinburgh Festival.

The idea is that the shows will be truly international experiences, with the audience immersed in international languages and cultures throughout the performances. The audience will learn the basics of different languages, while they will also get a snapshot of some of the most salient aspects of the different cultures that the SSC students present.  The shows are designed to be interactive, and the audience is encouraged to engage with the SSC student performers, both in English and in the different languages they learn.

Participating in the ‘Edinburgh Fringe’ course offers several important advantages to students.

They will:

- actually use their English in real interaction with native speakers and other  highly proficient users of English.

- gain confidence in performing and speaking in public.

- develop insights into their own and others’ cultures.

- gain language teaching experience.

- have fun by taking part as performers in one of the most exciting culture Festivals in the

The course is particularly suitable for individuals and groups who are interested in music, dance, theatre, or any other performing arts, while it is also of special benefit to those interested in teaching either English or their own language.

However, Festival Fringe participation is open to all, either individuals or groups, who are interested in improving their English while at the same time they developing other skills useful to them in their academic and work careers.

Training will be provided – so need to worry if you are not a professional performer!

'Culture Internationale' is suitable for all types of students.

The only requirement is a willingness to engage and have fun!

Please note:  It is possible to combine the ‘Caledon’ and/ or ‘Festival  Fringe’ courses with SSC’s other courses.  For example, it is possible to choose:
