Of Destination Meetings, Volcanoes and Botanical Gardens - This is FEDELE 2018

Published EDU-WorldWide on Tuesday, October 2, 2018

The first day of walking meetings at the FEDELE Vamos Event in Tenerife this year kicked off with Destination Meetings. 'Destination Meetings' are when the Spanish Schools group up according to the region where they come from and together they prepare a presentation for the agents to see when they come to their tables. This presentation is not intended to focus on the individual schools but rather on where they are based and what are the region's USP's.

Once the Destination meetings were over, we were divided into two groups. One group went to La Orotava, which is Tenerife's most aristocratic town, and the Botanical Gardens which are from the 18th-century and include very interesting features such as tropical and subtropical plants, reflecting the climate of the Canary Islands and Tenerife. These gardens are also home to a 200-year-old fig tree.

The second group, of which we formed part, made its way to La Teide, which is a volcano whose 3,718-metre summit is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. During our visit we went up to over 2,000 metres and we could see the vegetation along the way changing as the altitude changed.

The interesting thing about these two excursions is that apart from having the opportunity to visit some of the island's most prominent sites, and actually getting to see and explore the event destination, workshop participants also had 3 activities to do along the way. These included discussing school-agent relationships, client requests and potential complaints.

After a fantastic day of fresh air and interactive networking, we made our way to the luscious Hotel Botanico for another evening of networking, sharing photos and experiences with participants who were on a different excursion to us, lovely food, great wine....and a Treasure Hunt organised by the dynamic duo from Taronja School Maxi and Fernando, who never fail to surprise us with their well-organised and fun activities!
