2nd Call for Abstracts for the International Conference on Bilingualism 2019

The Department of English within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta is pleased to announce that it has issued a 2nd call for abstracts for the '2nd International Conference on Bilingualism' which will be held at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus between the 25th and 27th March, 2019. This 2nd call for abstacts will close on the 31st October, 2018.

Participants can choose to attend the conference and also participate more actively by presenting a paper. The conference aims to have an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas with researchers and students from different linguistic backgrounds. The organising committee is currently in the process of welcoming papers on a wide range of topics including:

3. Bilingualism and the Linguistic Landscape
4. Sociolinguistic and Sociocultural Themes in Education
5. Language Policy and Language Management in the Educational Domain
6. Immersion Programmes
7. Bilingualism and Language Attitudes
8. Bilingualism and Gender
9. Varieties of English
10. Code-switching
11. Bilingualism and Identity
12. Bilingualism and Biculturalism
13. Child Bilingual Development
14. Third language acquisition and Trilingualism
15. Bilingualism and Translation
16. Bilingualism and Literature
17. Bilingualism and Philosophy
18. Bilingualism and Cultural Studies
19. Multilingualism and Society
Submission of Abstracts:

Proposals are invited for Paper Presentations. Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted on the Online Abstract Submission Form (accessed from here) by 31 October 2018 midnight CET.

Professor Durk Gorter - University of the Basque Country, UVP/EHU, IKERBASQUE – Basque Foundation for Science

Professor David Lasagabaster - University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU

Professor Anne Pauwles - University of London, SOAS

Fees for the event are as follows:

Early bird Registration Fee payable until 15 October 2018 midnight CET: EUR 235

Late Registration Fee payable until 15 March 2019 midnight CET: EUR 250
