In a world full of sadness, good people still exist!

Published on Friday, March 24, 2017

Most of you have certainly met Alison Sturrock, who has been part of the fabulous IHWO team for quite a while now. It is with a heavy heart that we now have to say goodbye to her, however, we are not here to write about sad things. In fact, we are here to share Alison's story as she embarks on her new adventure helping people in some of the poorest regions in the world. Here's her story!
"Next January I will embark on a 3 month expedition as a voluntary project manager for Raleigh International in Costa Rica & Nicaragua. I'm raising money to help provide the funds needed for the projects  I will be working on, which will focus on sustainable development in local communities. Anything you can contribute would be very gratefully received!

In aid of all this and before heading to Central America's warmer climes I'll be completing my own winter 'triathlon' between now and Christmas: 1st a 40 km bike ride from Richmond to Hampton Court (Nov 27th), then a 10km running race through Richmond park ( on December 10th and last an outdoor Christmas eve swim in Brockwell park's unheated lido!!

I have also held a Christmas bake sale and raffle on Sunday the 18th December at Jensen's gin distillery at Maltby Street market. Those who attended could enjoy the delicious Jensens hot gin punch, sweet treats and raffle tickets - prizes were a Hiver beer gift pack and a bottle of champagne!

Some more info about the organisation I'm going to be volunteering for:

Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity. We work for and with young people, alongside rural communities, to create positive and lasting change. Our work focuses on three areas: providing access to safe water and sanitation, protecting vulnerable environments and building livelihoods.Thank-you so much for your support. We at Schools & Agents, would like to congratulate Alison on this initiative and wish her the best of luck on her new adventure. For those who would like to help, you can donate for a very good cause here:
