IHWO Donates to YUVA Syrian Refugee Charity

Published on Friday, March 24, 2017

In May this year during the annual IH Directors conference, held in Oxford in 2016, school directors took part in a charity auction by bringing items from their home countries to be auctioned off.

This year IHWO raised money for YUVA, a charity working to empower the Syrian community in the South East of Turkey through its Nizip and Kırıkhan Community Centers since 2013 under the Syrian Refugees Support Program.

The organisations main objective is to support refugees emotional and cognitive well-being and help them establish both sustainable and a honorable life in Turkey. YUVA also provides 'child friendly' spaces in its Community Centers for vulnerable Syrian children and youth so that they can have access to safe, participatory and inclusive education and recreational activities.

IHWO are pleased to announce that the initial sum raised during the auction in May has now been matched by IHWO, and YUVA therefore received a donation of £7,750 from the network. IHWO are pleased to support this worthy charity in the valuable work they carry out. For more information about the charity and this programme click  here.
