Personal Experience and how it helps to offer better high school placements

Today I had planned on going to an information meeting to do some research on something that may or may not benefit my company. Went to the office, suit on (unusual for me) and got my promotional work for Alphe London completed, and then headed into Dublin City for the meeting.  After finding the ideal parking space right across the road (that never happens) I went for a cup of coffee.

Then a call from my 4-year-olds’ Montessori school.  Emelia was running a high temperature and very upset.  I went to the meeting room (2 hours prior to the meeting) and dropped in my business card and explained that I got called away – to be honest I didn’t say why!!  I will reschedule a meeting and get the information again.

So here I am, typing at home getting Emelia to eat some pasta and waiting for a doctor’s appointment.

What is the point of this post?

I have been listening to a lot of audio books about having to commit to a company 100% at the cost of everything else in order to become some corporate giant.  It sounds great and I can understand the mindset but that’s not my, and hence my companies ethos.  We work with families and if I don’t follow that through with my own family it is all a bit hypocritical.

Knowing that children are our most prized possessions and having that hands-on experience ensures that we are empathetic towards the needs of the parents that send us their children. Yesterday was Sunday and I was checking up on a boy in a boarding school to make sure he had recovered as he was feeling a bit sick earlier in the week.  Nothing unusual there, at least not in our company.  That’s how it should be!

I feel so happy to be at home now knowing that I put my daughter first.  I am still working, doing emails and planning etc. but I am here listening to “Masha and the Bear” while I’m doing it.  I don’t want to put my company’s expansion above all else.

That is probably why I will never be a multimillionaire…

or maybe that is exactly why I will be
