Be part of the 2nd World Cup for the int’l student recruitment industry

Published on Friday, March 24, 2017

For the second year in a row the World Cup for the international student recruitment industry will be organised in Berlin, one day after the ICEF Berlin Workshop. This year, this World Cup will be held at the Aspria Berlin Kurfürstendamm Karlsruher Str. 20, 10711 Berlin.

The bus for this event leaves from the InterContinental Hotel at 1100am and the tournament will end at 1700hrs with this year's crowned winners. The tournament is an indoor one and each match will be between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the number of teams. Each team will get to play a minimum of 3 matches and will have to be composed of 8 teams with a maximum total number of 40 players.

This is a friendly event, therefore, supporters and cheerleaders are welcome. Drinks and snacks will also provided onsite. Awards and trophies for the education world champion team, MVP (most valuable player), best goalkeeper etc. will also be given at the end.

We spoke to Garry Sheahan from Castel Education and Sean Bradshaw from ESE Malta, who both participated in last year's tournament.

Speaking of his experience at last year's 'World Cup' Sean Bradshaw stated that, "It is a great idea and an excellent way to enjoy some time with colleagues, old and new, from different sectors of the industry.  A time to get away from the everyday business together yet possibly a way of forging better relationships.  That said that's not the idea and it simply was just fun."

Garry Sheahan was also very positive in his comments. Here's what he told us, "The International Education Cup 2015 was definitely one of the highlights of my ICEF Berlin experience in 2015. It was excellently organised with a real social and upbeat atmosphere maintained throughout. The quality of the football was much better than expected and when things got a little bit competitive, the tournament, as a whole, became very exciting for the spectators.

There were educators, agents and service providers of all ages playing in the tournament, so it was a great opportunity to network and to get to know your fellow industry professionals in a more informal environment. Personally, I made some really strong contacts whom I hope to have dealings with in the coming months.

Guard.me sponsored the event and were fantastic. Everything was organised exceptionally well and the participants had everything they needed from start to finish (Even delicious food and a few special beverages after the final whistle).

All in all, it was a great day with great people and I would highly recommend the event to anyone attending the 2016 Berlin Workshop."

Once again this year, participation is free but donations are appreciated. Every participant is fully covered and insured by Guard.me
