Awards ELT Conference

The first day at the 8th ELT Malta Conference was a very special one indeed. Apart from various Business and Management workshops that were targeted towards school Directors, the afternoon opened up for ELT teachers, too.

It is always very pleasant to see teachers and Directors, mingling and catching up, which is an additional purpose of this conference. Soon it was time for Dr. Daniel Xerri, Chairperson of the ELT Council to welcome all participants, after which, MTA Chairperson, Dr. Gavin Gulia, gave an opening speech.

14:30 marked the time everyone had been waiting for…Awards time. The 6th Inspiring ELT Professional Award this year was given to Jeremy Glass, ELT teacher at Maltalingua. Jeremy was speechless when he received the award. He then expressed his gratitude towards his colleagues and said that all the work he does is possible because he’s part of a team of like-minded professionals.

For the first time this year, the ELT Council launched a second award: ELT Career Service Award. The aim of this award was to recognise a person who has been of great service to the ELT industry in Malta. Louis Grech, Director of Studies at NSTS Malta, won this award, and you can see this moment here.

The day continued with a variety of Plenaries and Workshops. Teachers could choose their preference of workshops, which will go on until 19:45 and will be followed by a networking event…a true CPD experience for all ELT representatives in Malta. This does not stop here, as the conference continues tomorrow.
