Agent quality drives successful ICEF Beijing Workshop

Published on Friday, March 24, 2017

The ICEF Beijing Workshop, held on 12-14 October 2016, welcomed a total of 419 participants from 31 countries around the world. Over the course of the two days, 172 educators and 199 selected agents conducted 3 621 pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings.

Participating agents came from 12 countries across Asia, with China, South Korea and Taiwan being the top three countries. Furthermore, an impressive 37% of all agents attended the workshop for the first time. "Best event of all time. We found new partners. Business is expanding. Thank you!" said Giimaa Luuzan, Head of Mongolia International Education Service.

The ICEF Beijing Workshop continues to be the largest of its kind in Asia, providing the participants with a unique networking opportunity in one convenient location. Neil Chapple, CEO of Australian Vocational Learning Centre said: "This event has been good for us for the following reasons: meeting agents who have demand for our courses, meeting with two agents who are currently working with us from India, learning more about the marketplace conditions, and helping identify target markets."

The workshop offered an exciting seminar programme that provided information on the latest industry trends and research. The Beijing Overseas Study Service Association (BOSSA) and the China Overseas Study Association (COSA) presented the latest trends in international education in China, as well as shared best practices on how to work with Chinese agent partners. Other seminar topics included brand building in China and a look at the country's complex social media environment, Asian market findings from the ICEF Agent Barometer, study opportunities in the UK and more.

Last year the highlight of the event was the launch of the China Education Agent Course (CEAC), created by ICEF in partnership with BOSSA and the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS). Since then nearly 230 agents have successfully graduated from the course, representing a striking growth of over 400% during 2016.

In addition to the pre-scheduled meetings, the workshop hosted a number of social events for further opportunity to connect and network. The participants enjoyed a unique entertainment programme, including live music, name calligraphy, acrobats, as well as Chinese cultural performances.
